In February 2018 it was announced that a partial refund scheme for Lasting Power of Attorneys was launched.

If you applied to register a Lasting or Enduring Power of Attorney with the Office of Public Guardian between:

April 1st 2013 and March 31st 2017
If you paid an application fee, even at a reduced rate due to exemptions you could be due a partial refund.

During this time the Office of the Public Guardian’s (OPG) processing costs reduced as more people became aware of the benefit of Lasting Power of Attorney documents and applied to register LPAs, and the process became more efficient in handling the registration process but the registration fee at the time was not reduced to reflect this change.

Will Provider have already notified all previous customers that created LPAs using our service during this time and have advised how to claim it.

Ministers hope that cutting fees will encourage even more people to take out LPAs, providing peace of mind for themselves and their families.
